Michael Luzsicza /1996/ and Nikoleta Gazdová /1997/ started their journey as an artist couple in 2019. They both finished with a masters degree at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. They work with a wide range of mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpting, video, photography and installation.
In the performative work called “Relations” (2022), a twelve-meter fabric stretched from the interior to the exterior of the city gallery in Topoľčany, Slovakia. This white fabric was offered to us as a carrier of individual meanings, on which a drawing intervention was created during the performative event. By drawing a line, we as an artist couple embarked on a journey of
remembrance and communication that led us on a rollercoaster of emotions, with our lines meeting in the middle and then continuing on. The act of drawing was replaced by manipulating the white fabric and aggressively pulling it. Stretching between the interior and the exterior can be perceived as a violation of personal intimate boundaries and at the same time as a disagreement of opinions and an aggressive pursuit of one’s desires, regardless of the feelings of the other.
