Mission
The Barbarino Archive is a nonprofit digital archive dedicated to preserving, documenting, and providing free public access to the artistic contributions of underrepresented communities. Through thoughtful curation and ethical archival practices, the Archive seeks to safeguard the cultural legacies of artists who are emerging, established, forgotten, or rediscovered—ensuring their work is not lost to time, exclusion, or erasure.
With an initial focus on Latin American artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, and women artists, The Barbarino Archive exists to expand representation within art history and digital knowledge spaces while honoring the diversity, complexity, and humanity of the communities it serves.
Vision
The vision of The Barbarino Archive is a future in which art history is inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the full spectrum of human experience.
We envision a growing, living digital library where underrepresented artists are documented with care, respect, and visibility—where their work is preserved not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of our collective cultural record. Through community-centered initiatives and open-access digital platforms, The Barbarino Archive aims to become a trusted global resource for education, research, inspiration, and cultural preservation.
