Beneath the Surface explores the moments when we reach our breaking point—when it feels like there’s nothing left to give. Yet, in those raw and vulnerable spaces, we find the strength to dig deeper, and that’s where Grace meets us.

This series is culturally universal in that, no matter where we come from, we all know sorrow, grief, and pain. At the same time, it speaks to the shared resilience of the human spirit—the ability to endure, rise, and discover moments of grace amidst the struggle.

I often describe my art as a way to “transform chaos into beauty,” which is reflected in both my method and materials. I start very expressively, using spray paint and ink, and gradually build form and add detail as the painting evolves. Over time, the form emerges from the chaos, much like our identities are shaped by the fragments of our experiences—our struggles, triumphs, and quiet moments in between that define who we are.
