About

EMMANUEL FRANCISCO NAVARRO PIZARRO is a visual artist with a passion for plein air painting, born and raised in Villa Palmera, where he has lived since his birth on November 7, 1996, up to the present. Regarding his artistic career, Navarro Pizarro was introduced to the world of representational art in 2014. Through Atelier San Juan, the artist began his journey with a series of Saturday studies in portfolio preparation, under the guidance of Luis Borrero and Amber LiaKoppel.

In 2019, he graduated from the Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Cupey Campus, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, where he was recognized for his academic, civic, and student merits with the distinguished Federico Matheu award. Following this, Navarro Pizarro decided to dedicate himself fully to independent research into the history, practice, and techniques of Impressionist and luminist painters—central elements in the work of the Spanish artist Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, as well as other artists who belonged to the movement, both in and outside of Spain. A year later, Navarro Pizarro established his theoretical and practical foundation and began his plein air painting practice, making this exercise the central focus of his production and artisti development.

With the goal of creating all his narrative paintings outdoors, Navarro Pizarro has traveled to various areas of interest in different municipalities of Puerto Rico. Likewise, he has drawn inspiration from contrasting foreign landscapes, such as those in Spain, New York, and Connecticut. Since 2022, and continuing within the line of work, he has participated in artist residencies, including the Hudson River School Fellowship (organized by Grand Central Atelier and artist Jacob Collins), and Atelier Solar in Spain, coordinated by manager Daniel Silvo. He has also received the Stobart Foundation’s merit scholarship, which promotes traditional oil painting practices.
